Rainforest Organics Natural Soap Co. began in
2003 as a result of a quest to try to lead a more
natural and toxin-free lifestyle. One of the
original principals, Melanie had been suffering from
multiple chemical sensitivities, although at the time
they were referred to as allergies or some Doctors just
told her it was stress related. Unsatisfied with
their diagnosis and steroid based treatments she decided
to take her health into her own hands and began to do
research in the library and on the internet.
What
she soon discovered was that she knew nothing about the
soaps, moisturizers and hair products that she had been
using on her body.
It was scary to think that she didn't know what was truly in the skin care
products that her family was using, and due to
'trade-secrets' they weren't even entitled to find out
that information. Melanie even went so
far as to contact a huge corporate manufacturer
regarding their soap and Melanie's skin sensitivity
concerns, only to be advised that no ingredient
information would be given due to trade-secret privacy.
Melanie also didn't know what testing the individual
ingredients had gone through prior to being added to
personal care products, like their soap or tooth paste.
Why? Because according to the
Environmental Working Group only 11% of cosmetic
ingredients have been reviewed by the CIR (Cosmetic
Ingredient Review) safety panel. So what about the
other 89% of ingredients that remain in 99% of cosmetic
products on the market. Wow, good incentive to go
natural.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and
who better to turn to than Mother Nature herself!
It was in herbs, flowers, and vegetable oils that
Melanie found what she was looking for.
Through experimentation, and of course going through a
fair amount of trial and error she began to develop
natural soap, natural lip balms and natural bath
products that worked with her sensitive skin, were loved
by her friends and family test subjects and Rainforest
Organics Natural Soap Co. was born.
Originally just sold to friends and through local
farmers markets, its popularity grew, and the products,
which started with just soap (Castile being the first),
grew and has now evolved into a comprehensive line of
organic bar soaps, organic liquid castile soap, organic
lip balms and organic bath products. Limited only
to what Mother Earth can provide, the line will continue
to grow in the future. Over the years Rainforest
has grown out of
its humble home based beginnings and has evolved into
being part of a larger natural products company whose
philosophy promotes the use of modern environmentalism,
lowering the carbon foot print, using natural
ingredients over synthetic, promoting local agriculture
and growers and creating natural products that provide
good quality alteratives to commercial synthetic mass
market soaps and personal care products.

highest quality ingredients available - and listing
every single one used, right on the label.
Rainforest Organics avoids any animal products where
animals are harmed, and with
the exception of beeswax and goats milk in a few products,
its products are 100% Vegan. Rainforest Organics products are paraben,
sulphate
and pthalate free!
If it can't be found in Nature, then you won't find it

Nature didn't see a need for it, than neither does
Rainforest Organics. Well, you get the idea.
Realizing that modern cosmetic products and some of the
synthetic ingredients they use will dominate in a World
where the affordability of a product is important,
Rainforest Organics is only trying to keep a bit of
