Officially Rainforest Organics Natural Soap Co. began in
May 2003, however its true beginning goes back much
further than that.
Founded by Melanie Stoiber, Rainforest
Organics Natural Soap Co. was born from a need for a
more natural and toxin-free lifestyle. In the
years leading up to the official founding of the
business, Melanie had been suffering from
multiple chemical sensitivities, although at that time,
they were referred to as 'allergies' or she was advised
this was just the way her body dealt with stress.
Melanie and her husband Dennis, as so many other wise and
health-conscious consumers today, decided that they had
to take things into their own hands. Through
endless research in libraries, on the internet, and by
asking questions of anyone they felt might be able to
help, they finally realized what they needed to know.
What they now knew was that they didn't really know
anything!
They didn't know what was truly in the skin care
products that they were using, and due to
'trade-secrets' they weren't even entitled to find out
that information. Dennis and Melanie even went so
far as to contact a huge corporate manufacturer
regarding their soap and Melanie's skin sensitivity
concerns, only to be advised that no ingredient
information would be given due to trade-secret privacy.
They also didn't know what testing the individual
ingredients had gone through prior to being added to
personal care products, like their soap or tooth paste.
Why? Because according to the
Environmental Working Group only 11% of cosmetic
ingredients have been reviewed by the CIR (Cosmetic
Ingredient Review) safety panel. So what about the
other 89% of ingredients that remain in 99% of cosmetic
products on the market.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and
who better to turn to than Mother Nature herself!
It was in herbs, flowers, and vegetable oils that Dennis
and Melanie found what they were looking for.
Doing much research, and of course going through a fair
amount of trial and error they developed the products
which now carry the Rainforest Organics name.
What started out as only soap (Castile being the first),
has now grown into a entire line of diverse and 100%
Natural Skin Care Products. Limited only to what
Mother Earth can provide, the line will continue to grow
in the future.
They have an ongoing commitment to using only the
highest quality ingredients available - and listing
every single one used, right on the label in plain
English. They also avoid any animal products, with
the exception of beeswax in a few products, and NEVER
turn to synthetics. The products are also paraben
and pthalate free!
If it can't be found in Nature, then you won't find it
at Rainforest Organics Natural Soap Co.! If Mother
Nature didn't see a need for it, than neither does
Rainforest Organics. Well, you get the idea.
Realizing that today's developments and technologies
(and certain synthetics)definately have there place in
the World, Rainforest Organics is only trying to keep a
bit of green where possible. We could all stand to
walk a little softer on the Earth. And remember,
it feels good to use Natural products; it feels twice as
good to use them with a friend.
