Natural
Handmade Soap Frequently Asked Questions: |
|
Q. |
Are your
products natural? |
|
A. |
All of our
products are 100% natural. Our
handmade soap,
bath and body products, and
sponges and cloths are all comprised of natural,
renewable ingredients. Our
pure essential oils are all steam distilled or cold
pressed; we do not use oils which have been solvent
(chemically) extracted.

|
Q. |
Are your
products organic? |
|
A. |
While we
try to use Certified Organic ingredients whenever
possible, sometimes cost and availability do not permit.
In this case we have searched the globe for carrier oils
that have been grown without the use of chemicals and or
pesticides.

Q. |
Do you use
parabens and phthalates? |
|
A. |
No!!!
We do not use any synthetics and only use Vitamin E or
Rosemary Extract as preservatives. Recent
studies show cause for concern for the use of
parabens and phthalates. We feel they are unnecessary,
potentially harmful and we choose to use natural
alternatives. The European Union sees the harm,
why don't you take some time to read more about
phalates.

Q. |
Do you use
lye in your soaps? |
|
A. |
Yes, we do
use lye. We use sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
in our soap making process. When making a true
soap (not a detergent bar like the commercial
alternatives) an acid and a fat is required for
saponification, which is the
process that the ingredients go through to become
soap. After the bars cure for approximately 6
weeks, they are neutral and contain no traces of lye.

Q. |
Do you use
any animal products? |
|
A. |
All
Rainforest
soaps and
bath products
are vegetarian and many are vegan. The only animal
product we ever use is beeswax and it's only in a few of
our products. Since we always list all of our
ingredients, there's no need to worry, because you
always know exactly what you're using.
We do NOT use any dead
animal products such as tallow, lard or Emu oil. We also don't use lanolin or goat's milk. This
means that you and your family aren't rubbing animal fat
on your skin and into your circulatory system. This is
not only healthy for you, but healthy for your
environment.

|
Q. |
What makes
your products healthier than commercial products? |
|
A. |
Most
people have heard the saying, 'You are what you eat'.
Recent studies suggest that what you put on your skin
can be absorbed into your circulatory system and spread
through your whole body. To see a list of all the
seemingly endless
benefits of
essential oils, we encourage you to do your
research. We've compiled some
resources for you on
going
natural, where you can find a valuable
information about natural vs. synthetic.
Unlike commercial soaps and detergent bars, Rainforest
Organics
soaps include vegetable glycerin which occurs
naturally during the curing process and acts as a
humectant allowing your skin to moisturize.

|
Q. |
Will your
soap lather? |
|
A. |
Each type
of bar of
soap in our line will lather slightly differently.
Some have tiny rich bubbles while others have larger
firm suds.
|
|
Q. |
Will your
soap sting my eyes? |
|
A. |
Yes - it's
soap. Don't put anything in your eyes. |
|
Q. |
How long
does a bar of soap last? |
|
A. |
There are
many variables, but generally much longer than
commercial soaps. Let your bar dry out between uses to
prolong life (You can use one of our hand crafted soap
dish). My family of two, can use a bar of soap for at
least 2 weeks.
